Universal Heart Space

About

Mission

At Universal Heart Space, we believe that empathetic communication creates more authentic and productive connections. We're here to remind you that caring for each other (and ourselves) can come easily when we practice stripping our judgement from the conversation. We provide trainings to teach you the language that reduces stigma and judgement, and allows you to genuinely connect with someone who may desperately need your help.

These trainings can be provided as onboarding trainings, diversity and inclusion trainings, employee skills development, or simply with a group of like minded community members or friends who want to learn the skills.

Our Classes and Workshops

We offer lunch-n-learns, full day workshops, 1-2 hour workshops, and customized workshops and programs. Click below to learn more about our featured workshops.

How comfortable are you with identifying signs of mental illnesses and assisting someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem? Do you feel confident helping someone who may be in crisis? In our Mental Health First Aid class you will learn and practice ways to support community members in need.

You will learn:

  • * How to recognize mental health issues before they become more serious, promote and enhance recovery, and provide comfort and support.
  • * How to provide first aid to adults experiencing a mental health crisis, and preserve life when someone may be a danger to themself or others.
  • * Alternatives to calling 911, which in some instances can exacerbate a situation.
  • * Self care for you!

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond with empathy to someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance-use problem. A First Aider's increased mental health literacy enables them to help people in emotional crisis and non-crisis situations.

Upon completion of the course, you will become nationally certified Mental Health First Aid Responders and will be eligible for 7 CEU's, depending on your professional affiliation.

Through a series of prompts and exercises, we will explore the best types of self care for you in this stage of your life. People of all life stages and circumtances welcome.

We will discuss physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual self-care.

Everyone will receive feedback and guidance on how to create an achievable plan for your present circumstances and you will leave with a clear 21 day plan to jumpstart your self-care routine.

An introduction to how different foods and preparations help or hinder your mental wellbeing. We will discuss how some nutrients work best when ingested together and talk about vitamins, minerals and more.

Words are powerful. Body language can tell its own story. Have you ever wished you could have been more supportive and engaged in an important conversation with a friend, coworker, neighbor or family member who may be going through a tough time? Attend this workshop to learn language and communication tools to help others feel heard and understood. We all need a shoulder at times in our lives; learn ways to let others know they are not alone.

About Your Trainer

Cindy Fischthal, Founder and Lead Trainer

Cindy Fischthal is a powerful advocate for the emotional, mental and physical well-being of all beings, and innately connects with people from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. Her professional background includes experience in non-profit, corporate and government sectors, and she is well versed in facilitating experiences for people from all customer and corporate levels.

Her passions are multifaceted, and each have been nurtured in professional settings: her logical side as a Senior Imagery Systems Engineer and Engineering Project Manager, and her creative side as a Photographer whose prints landed in juried art exhibitions around the country.

However she realized that the highest level of beauty is seeing people genuinely care for one another. The question was: what causes one person to stop and help someone, while another nervously hurries on? Could it be their comfort level with the topics of mental wellbeing?

She created Universal Heart Space to bring the need for these conversations to the light, and to give people a straightforward and simple structure in practicing empathy, helping connect people to beneficial resources, and self care.
